3 cups dried great northern beans
1 quart low sodium vegetable broth
1 large onion chopped
6 cloves garlic, or to taste
4 dried peppers, or to taste
1 tsp to 1/4 cup apple cider vinegar, to taste
1/4 cup molasses
1/4 cup unrefined sugar
1 tablespoon yellow mustard
1 tsp each chile powder, black pepper & turmeric
2 tsp smoked paprika
1 6 oz can tomato paste
I made with no added salt. Salt to taste!
Soak dry beans overnight, or 8 hours.
Cover with water, bring to boil, and simmer for 30 minutes
Drain, and transfer to cast iron pot with remaining ingredients
Simmer on low heat for four hours.
