Lentils and Green Beans

  • 1 cup lentils soaked 15 min and drained
  • 4 cups water
  • 1 tsp pink salt
  • 1 tsp garlic powder
  • 1 tsp garam masala
  • 2 1/2 cups chopped green beans
  • 1/2 tsp cayenne

  • 1 tsp oil
  • 1 tsp cumin seed
  • 1 large onion chopped
  • 1/2 tsp hing
  • 1 chopped hot pepper
  • 4 cloves garlic chopped
  • 1 chili pepper
  • 1 tablespoon raw sugar or maple syrup
  • 1 teaspoon garam masala
  • 1/2 tsp ground cinnamon
  • {optional garnish with cilantro, lemon juice, sesame seeds}

    Cook lentils and water on medium heat for 20 minutes.

    Add salt, garlic, garam masala cayenne and green beans,
    mix & cook for another 15 minutes.

    Saute the onion, garlic, pepper, in spice mixture seperately
    for about 5 minutes, till onions turn golden brown.

    Add to bean mixture, Mix and let stand for 5 minutes.

    Makes about 5 cups.
